Job Description: We are looking for a personable, organized and experienced marketing & sales professional to join our team of travel specialists who enjoy sharing the wonders of Latin America with our discerning and adventurous clientele. The goal is to increase Southwind’s sales through upscale market presence and industry-wide recognition with outreach and online marketing, media relations and alumni referrals. The position entails development, coordination, and successful execution of the website, systems and marketing strategies. Travel Consultants are in contact with travelers from first inquiry to post-trip evaluation, so we are looking for someone who can build long-term client relationships.
Responsibilities also include: tour consulting, sales and customer service, answering requests, promoting trips, coordinating custom itineraries, follow-up with prospects, marketing outreach efforts, personal presentations and trade shows, air arrangements, sales literature updates, blog and newsletters writing, managing guest files, professional and timely client correspondence, troubleshooting unexpected issues and trip evaluation.
Requirements: •College degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. •Must have a minimum of 4-5 years of recent and successful marketing & sales experience in similar positions within the US (US & Canada clientele) in the adventure travel or ecotourism field. Group sales experience a plus. •Advanced computer skills with a proficiency in MS Windows-based applications (Word, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.). Experience with ACT, CRM, WordPress, WIX or other CMS a plus. •Experience with upscale clientele, private clubs or travel agencies a plus •Well organized, accurate with numbers and strict attention to detail. •Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines under pressure. •Excellent written and verbal communication skills. •Motivated, self-starter, outgoing, goal and service oriented. •Enthusiastic and friendly personality with a high energy level. •Must have lived or traveled extensively in Latin America. Spanish or Portuguese language a plus! •Nature and outdoor oriented (hiking, camping, rafting, biking, horseback riding, photography, etc.).
Benefits: •Virtual workplace with the flexibility to work online from the continental US. •Travel to South or Central America for periods of up to 3 weeks, once or twice per year. •Paid training/trial period of 1 month. •Ability to gain knowledge about the expanding adventure travel industry. •Hours & Salary: Full-time with flexibility of working schedule (minimum 40 hours per week).
