The Wild Source has an opportunity for a dedicated Safari Specialist to join our mission focused safari operation. The position is based in our Golden, Colorado office and requires a person that fits into our customer care culture, with a drive to maintain expert knowledge and passion to bring positive impact where we work on the ground. The Safari Specialist will be a self-motivated team player, able to work independently with clients to plan their tailor-made ultimate safari experience. It is essential to be a responsible collaborator with our Colorado planning and operations teams, as well as our colleagues in Africa. As a small and innovative company each team member must be flexible to jump in wherever support is needed, and creative thinking is encouraged as we continue on our path of evolution.
Responsibilities: •Quick response to safari requests, engaging with clients to determine their unique travel needs. •Requires effective communication by phone, email and sometimes in-person meetings with travelers in our office. •Design custom itineraries tailored to fit the client interests and requirements. •Work efficiently by qualifying leads and prioritizing your planning assignments. •Create detailed itinerary costing using Excel, use of web-based proposal software, use of client database •Create and manage small group safari departures. •Customer care: from first contact to collaboration with operations team to support booked travelers before and after travel •Develop ideas on how we can improve, advance our mission and further the competitive advantages that differentiate The Wild Source
Ideal Candidate: The Ideal Candidate wants to be part of a dynamic team that is much more of a conservation-focused safari operation than a travel agency. As such, our approach is different than the typical bespoke safari planning operation. We need a professional that is passionate about conservation and travel. We are much more concerned with finding an outstanding person, than a candidate that checks every box on a list of requirements. Here are some criteria that will be considered:
•Experience working with travelers to develop custom itineraries and costing •Customer service/hospitality background •Computer skills with Excel, Word, and web-based management and proposal products •Experience developing and maintaining client relationships •Thrives in a team collaboration atmosphere •International travel experience •Efficient with handling diverse projects •Ability to prioritize time sensitive tasks •Interest in learning the safari trade; the conservation element involved, the wildlife behaviors and patterns
